UK Charts: EA and Activision Blizzard dominate Christmas business
EA and Activision Blizzard introduce the Christmas sales charts in the UK and are the largest publisher in the British Christmas business. The data of JFK show that FIFA and Call of Duty where number 1 in nine different Christmas periods.
According to a current market analysis of the JFK (via Games industry) about the physical retail trade with games in the United Kingdom, EA and Activision Blizzard have turned out since 1984 as the top publishers during the Christmas season.
Over the past 37 years, the two industry giants have led the list year after year, and 2021 both are almost equal to the number of weeks they have spent from 1984 to the top of the British Christmas cars.
Electronic Arts was 13 times at the top of Christmas charts, while Activision was 10 times the throne. The reason for the popularity of EA is the FIFA franchise that attracts a large audience year after year. FIFA 22 also led the Christmas charts 2021. EA had also achieved several top places in the Christmas cars with Need for Speed and Medal of Honor.
Activision Blizzard could reach the first top spot in 1984 with Ghostbusters, then in 2007 with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and in the years thereafter with several other Call of Duty titles.
Additional top riders at Christmas include The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim of Bethesda and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time by Nintendo.
